How do I generate a QR code?

Are the QR codes really free?
Yes. Static QR codes on QR Kontor are completely free and can be used without signing up. No limits, no watermarks, no account. We generate them directly in your browser; no content is sent to our server.
What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
Static means the content is built into the QR code itself. If the URL or phone number changes, the printed QR code is worthless. Dynamic means the QR code points to a short redirect whose destination you can change at any time. The advantage of dynamic: you can print the QR code without worrying that it will be dead tomorrow. Plus, you see how often and where it was scanned.
When should I use a dynamic QR code?
Whenever the content could change at some point. Business cards (phone numbers change), restaurant menus (the menu changes with the season), marketing campaigns (the landing page gets optimized), event posters (the date moves). Plus, whenever you want to know how often it was scanned.
Can I design the QR code with my own logo and colors?
Yes. Click "Customize colors & shape" at the top of the generator. You can choose foreground and background colors and adjust the dot shape (round, square, dotted) and corner shape. Logo upload for static QR codes is coming soon; it is currently only available for dynamic ones.
Does the QR code work on all phones?
Yes. Both iPhone and Android scan QR codes directly with the camera app, without extra software. Business card QR codes are saved to the address book with one tap. URLs open directly in the browser.
Is QR Kontor GDPR-compliant?
Yes. Static QR codes are generated entirely in your browser, with no data transfer. For dynamic QR codes, all data runs exclusively in Frankfurt (Supabase EU and Vercel fra1). We set no marketing cookies and do no tracking without consent. Made in Germany.
Where is my QR code stored?
For static QR codes: nowhere. We generate it in your browser, you download it, we forget everything. For dynamic QR codes (with an account): in Supabase EU, data center in Frankfurt. The data never leaves the EU.
