When an editable code pays off

Whenever the destination may change later but the printed code should stay. The most common cases, each with a guide:

Billing questions

What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
Static: the content is fixed at print time, so a specific URL or vCard is stored inside the QR code. It costs nothing because no server infrastructure runs behind it. Dynamic: the QR code points to a short redirect whose destination you can change at any time. You need this as soon as the content might change (menu, business card, campaign URL).
Do I need a credit card to get started?
No. Creating an account is free, and static QR codes are available right away. You only pay once you want a dynamic QR code.
€4.99 one-time, and then never again?
Exactly. A dynamic QR code costs €4.99 one-time, is valid for life, and you can change its destination as often as you like. No subscription, no follow-up costs, no renewal fees. The price holds because a dynamic code costs us almost nothing to keep running: a short redirect, no media storage, hosted in the EU.
When is Pro worth it?
If you regularly create new dynamic QR codes. From about 5 new codes per month, Pro is cheaper than single purchases. It also includes priority support, which usually means a reply on the next business day.
Can I leave Pro again without losing my QR codes?
Yes. Existing QR codes stay dynamic, even after cancellation. Afterwards you just cannot create new ones without buying them individually or as a pack.
Do I get an invoice with VAT?
Yes. After every payment you automatically receive a receipt from Stripe showing the VAT and our VAT ID.
How often may I change the destination of a dynamic QR code?
As often as you like, with a small safety throttle: at most 1 change per hour, so nobody misuses QR Kontor as a throwaway URL shortener. If you need more, the Pro plan has no limit.
