Frequently asked questions

What is a "dynamic" QR code?
Static QR codes have their content baked in: if the URL changes, the code is worthless. Dynamic QR codes point to a short QR Kontor URL that redirects to the real destination in the background. If the destination changes, the printed QR code stays the same.
How GDPR-compliant is QR Kontor, really?
Data is stored in Frankfurt (Supabase EU + Vercel fra1). We only set essential cookies (login session), no marketing tracking, no third-party pixels. Data processing agreements with our hosting partners are in place. Full record of processing activities on request.
What happens if your service goes down?
Vercel and Supabase each have a 99.99 % SLA, which is under 53 minutes of downtime per year. Distributed across several edge servers in Frankfurt. Daily database backups. In a hypothetical complete outage, all printed QR codes are temporarily dead. That is the case with every dynamic QR service, whether Bitly, Beaconstac or us.
Am I locked in once my cards are printed?
As long as the QR Kontor slug is on your cards, yes (as with every dynamic QR service). But you can export your data at any time and switch to another provider. The slugs can later be pointed at a custom domain, so you stay flexible in the long run.
Can I resell QR Kontor codes to my own clients?
Yes. You create the codes in your account and hand them to your clients, and we take no commission on your margins. For individual client projects, the 25-pack for €73.99 one-time is enough. If you need new codes on an ongoing basis, take Pro for €19 a month with unlimited dynamic codes. We currently do not offer white-label branding or custom short-link domains.
Is there an API?
No, there is currently no public API. If you need one, drop us a short note about what you plan to do with it. The more often someone asks, the sooner we build it.
