Your data is hosted in Frankfurt, Germany (Supabase EU and Vercel fra1). Only essential cookies for the login session, no marketing tracking and no third-party pixels.
Step by step: create a QR code in Canva
Step 1: Open Canva → Apps → QR Code
- Start a new design in Canva (for example business card or flyer)
- Left sidebar → "Apps" (or the ⊕ icon)
- Search for "QR Code" → select Canva's official QR generator
Step 2: Enter the URL
- Enter the destination URL in the field (for example
https://your-website.com) - Optionally adjust foreground and background color (high contrast is best: black on white stays the most scannable)
- Click "Generate QR code"
Step 3: Drag it into your design
The generated QR code appears in your Canva design. You can move it, resize it, fit it into your layout.
Step 4: Export
- PNG for web and social
- PDF Print for business cards, flyers, posters
- SVG is available in Canva Pro (for vector workflows)
What Canva cannot do (and what the alternative is)
Logo in the middle of the QR code
Canva's QR generator does not allow logo integration. You would have to place the logo over it manually, which often makes the code unreadable because the error correction level is not adjusted.
Alternative: an external generator (like ours) automatically sets error correction to "H" when a logo is embedded, so the code stays scannable.
Dynamic QR code (change the content later)
QR codes built in Canva are static. If the destination URL changes later (a move, rebranding, a new landing page), all printed material is worthless.

Scan tracking
You do not learn how often your QR code was scanned, from where, at what time of day. For marketing evaluation that is essential.

vCard QR code (business card)
Canva's QR generator only makes URL codes. If you want a digital business card that saves first name, last name, phone and email to the address book on scan, you need the vCard format.

FAQ
Does the QR generator in Canva cost extra? No, it is included in the free Canva version. You need Canva Pro for SVG export, though.
Can I change the QR code in Canva afterwards? Only the color and position in the layout. You can change the destination URL by regenerating the code in the app dialog, but then it is a new code, and the old printed one is dead.
Do Canva QR codes work internationally? Yes, the code follows the standard. It works with every phone camera worldwide.
What resolution do I need for print? Rule of thumb: 300 DPI. If you print the code at 3 × 3 cm (1.2 × 1.2 in) on a business card, it should be at least 354 × 354 px in the layout.
Can I turn a Canva QR code into a dynamic one later? No, that only works if you create the code in a tool for dynamic codes from the start. With QR Kontor the QR image stays the same, but you can change the destination URL in the dashboard.
What if I am on Canva Free and need SVG? Three options: (1) use the Canva Pro trial, (2) export PNG and convert it to SVG in an online converter (quality loss), (3) use our generator, where SVG export is always free.
If your QR code needs to live longer
Business cards are used for one to two years. Event posters have months of lead time. If you might ever want to change what your QR code points to (and that happens more often than you think), switching to a dynamic code pays off.
